Women in Diyarbakır are gathering at İstasyon Square to celebrate International Women’s Day. Women have shouted the slogan saying, “Jin, Jiyan, Azadi (Women, Life, and Freedom)”.

Amed- The rally led by the Dicle Amed Women’s Platform (DAKP) with the motto, “We defend life against femicide, we defend freedom against isolation” has started with the participation of hundreds women. Members of DAKP, Free Women’s Movement (TJA), Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Women’s Council, Progressive Women's Assembly, Rosa Women’s Association, Women’s Academy, the Confederation of Progressive Trade Unions of Turkey (DİSK), the Union of Chambers of Turkish Engineers and Architects (TMMOB), Association for the Freedom of Lawyers (ÖHD), Workers’ Party of Turkey (TİP), many women’s organizations and HDP MPs Remziye Tosun, Semra Güzel, Dersim Dağ have attended the rally.

The İstasyon Square has been decorated with colorful flags while banners reading, “Femicide, harassment and rape are political”, “We protect our lives for an equal and free life”, “Istanbul Convention keeps alive”, “We defend ecological life for the freedom of nature and women” and “Justice for female prisoners and women”.

Women enter the square by wearing their traditional dresses

Hundreds of women have already entered the square by wearing their traditional dresses. The women have carried banners reading, “We will win by resisting”, “We demand true justice not male justice” and “Women, Life, Freedom”.
