Women in Amed (Diyarbakır) came together to celebrate International Women’s Day. Hundreds of women participated in the rally organized at Istasyon Square of Amed (Diyarbakır) led by the Dicle Amed Women's Platform (DAKP) with the motto, “We defend life against femicide, freedom against isolation.”

Amed- Hundreds of women have attended the International Women’s Day rally organized at Istasyon Square of Amed (Diyarbakır) led by the Dicle Amed Women's Platform (DAKP) with the motto, “We defend life against femicide, freedom against isolation,” continues.

This year, women in Amed have celebrated International Women’s Day at Istasyon Square. The women wearing their colorful traditional dresses have attended the rally with the motto, “We defend life against femicide, freedom against isolation.”

The messages sent by female politicians Figen Yüksekdağ and Sebahat Tuncel were read at the rally.

“I am very happy to be here today. I come here every year to celebrate" 

International Women’s Day. Women should rise up to be free. Women shouldn’t be killed anymore. We have also the right to live,” said Remziye Ödüngit, one of the women at the rally.

“We will take to the streets until violence against women ends”

“This cruelty and violence must be ended. We defend our rights; we will always defend our rights. There are thousands of women resisting on mountains and in prisons. Today is their day. As women, we will take to the streets until violence against women ends,” Aysel Kayık told us.

“Women will raise their struggle”

Ayşe Yeni is another woman participating in the celebration. “I am here for my own struggle, the women's struggle. I will always be here. Long live women’s struggle, this struggle will never end, this enthusiasm will never end. Women will raise their struggle.”
