News Center- Kongra Star Coordination has issued a written statement to mark International Women’s Day. In the statement, the Kongra Star wishes a happy International Women’s Day to all women and says, “First of all, we commemorate our martyrs who sacrificed their lives for freedom, justice, equality, and democracy, wrote heroic epics against authoritarian regimes, and broke the chains of slavery. International Women's Day is celebrated by women all around the world thanks to the struggle of women such as Rosa Luxemburg, Clara Zetkin, Zenubya, Zarife, Sakine Cansız, Sosin Birhat, Nujin Amed, Tolhildan Raman, Leyla Agiri, Zehra Berkel, Hind, and Saide. The philosophy of free life and resistance of all women walking their own paths, such as Seida, Yadê Eqide, and Hevrin Khalaf, has been the main force of all women's movements and organizations for freedom of women and society.”

The statement issued by the Kongra Star Coordination is as follows:

“We wish a happy International Women’s Day to all women in Rojava, North and East Syria, the four parts of Kurdistan and all Kurdish women, with the slogan, ‘Together we will stand up for our revolution and liberate our lands. We wish a happy International Women’s Day to all mothers of martyrs, all women held in prisons of despotic systems, struggling women, as well as women protecting women and society at the frontlines of resistance. We greet the leader of the democratic nation, the first true friend of women, leader Abdullah Öcalan, with his philosophy of free life. As Abdullah Öcalan said before, the 21st century will be the age of women’s liberation.

“We live in an age of planned war”

Our revolution raises the level of the women's revolution by strengthening the level of the struggle for freedom led by women against all fascist and occupying attacks, the dominant patriarchal rules, and the genocidal policy against women. The unity of women will ensure a free and honorable life for all segments of society. We live in an age of planned war being carried out by using all kinds of methods such as special war policies, massacres, rape, forced displacement, poverty, economic, cultural, and biological wars. This politics and mentality are organized according to the interests of the capitalist modernity system in the form of a world system that tries to control the whole world by all means. This system is openly seen in the war in the Middle East, in conflicts in Kurdistan, Afghanistan, Ukraine, and the escalation of conflicts among peoples living together.

“We must feel March 8 every moment”

The organized struggle of women in the world under the leadership of democratic forces enables women to reach the highest level in the struggle for democracy, public environment, and social justice against the concepts of power. The slogans reading ‘Now is the time for freedom’, ‘It is time to protect women and a free society' and ‘Together we will defend our revolution and liberate our lands’ have strengthened our will to keep historical reality alive. In order to be worthy of this reality, we must struggle more; we must feel the reality of March 8 every hour and every moment.

“The struggle against isolation must be intensified”

The isolation imposed upon leader APO (Abdullah Öcalan) is also the isolation imposed upon women and society. Therefore, we must intensify the struggle to end the planned isolation, break down the wall of Imrali Prison and ensure the physical freedom of leader APO. The women's struggle also aims to change the patriarchal mentality and traditions of the past, to protect society and its historical reality, to encourage free coexistence, and to ensure justice and equality, democracy and ecology, health, and morality. The democratic self-administration system, in which women play a leading role, is a social revolution, a model, and a source of inspiration for all women. Thanks to the resistance of the YPJ (Women's Defense Units), all the military forces of the SDF, the Internal Security Forces, and the Social Defense Forces have achieved historical successes against the concepts of capitalist modernity in accordance with the democratic modernity system.

Call on women to raise their voices

We wish a happy International Women’s Day to all women and dedicate our struggle to our martyrs Sosin Birhat, Viyan, Nujiyan, Rojin, Awaz Urmiye, Karima Loran, Widad Yonan, Cumana El-Musa, Ivan Hovman, Hind, Seida, and Hevrin Khalaf. We also greet the resistance of women in Afrin, Serêkaniyê, Til Temir, and Zirgan, the resistance of young women, and the resistance of Afghan women against the policies of genocide, murder, and displacement. We promise our martyrs to strengthen the level of struggle to achieve all goals and dreams for freedom, justice, and equality. We call on women all over the world to take to the streets and raise their voices against all genocides until justice, equality and democracy prevail.”
