International Women’s Day celebrations by Iranian women

In Iran, where women are banned from everything, women celebrate International Women’s Day in Sanandaj, Mariwan, and Tehran.

News Center- Iranian women gathered in Tehran, the capital of Iran, to celebrate International Women’s Day. They held a banner reading, “We demand equality” shouted the “Women, Life, Freedom” slogan.

The women in Sanandaj also took to the streets by holding banners reading, “We demand equality”, “We demand an equal and free life”, “Gender equality is not a luxury but a must”, “Long live International Women’s Day”. After observing one-minute silence for women who lost their lives in the struggle for revolution and socialism, the celebration started. The women read poems written by resisting women. At the end of the celebration, women read a statement titled, “We want to have equal rights”.

Women of Mariwan: We demand an equal life

Women of Mariwan town gathered near Zarivar Lake to celebrate International Women’s Day. Men also participated in the celebration. Holding banners reading, “We cannot exist without equality”, “Democracy”, “Freedom”, the women of Mariwan shouted slogans such as “Women, Life, Freedom” and “No to honor killings”.
