Children's suffering in Lebanon worsens as violence escalates, with UNICEF reporting seven killed, dozens injured, and 18,000 displaced in one night.

News Center_Children are paying the heaviest price amidst conflicts and wars, as they are directly exposed to the repercussions of military escalation, amid increasing warnings of violations of the rules protecting civilians. And calls for urgent steps to ensure the safety of children and protect them from the effects of escalating violence.

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Lebanon confirmed yesterday, Tueseday, March 4th, that the escalation of violence over the past hours has had catastrophic effects on children. It announced the Killing of seven children and the injury of 38 others with varying wounds, at a time when about 18,000 children were forced to suddenly flee their homes in just one night.

The organization pointed out that this mass displacement reflects the scale of the danger children face amidst the deteriorating security situation and the expanding scope of confrontations.

UNICEF emphasized that children are bearing the heaviest burden of this escalation, stressing that "no child should lose their life, nor should they bear the scars of war," in a clear message to the warring parties about the necessity of stopping the targeting of civilians, especially the most vulnerable groups.

The organization called for strict adherence to international humanitarian law, considering that respecting it is not a political choice but a legal and moral duty, and urged immediate action to ensure the protection of children and prevent the recurrence of such violations.

This escalation raises growing fears of a worsening humanitarian crisis, particularly with the increasing number of displaced people and the difficulty of delivering aid to affected areas, making the protection of children an urgent priority under the current circumstances.
