Widespread Strikes Rock Mahabad & Eastern Kurdistan; Services Cut, Tensionn Soars

Wide-ranging attacks destroy intelligence HQ in Mahabad, hit Revolutionary Guard and poliçe sites across Eastern Kurdistan, disrupting basic services and fueling escalating security tension in the region.

Urmia – The Israeli-American attacks on Iran represent one of the most extensive joint operations, with strikes targeting air defense systems, command centers, facilities linked to Iran's senior leadership, and extending to prisons.

The Intelligence Administration building in Mahabad was completely destroyed yesterday, Monday, March 2nd, during the Israeli-American attacks. The building was known as a center for torture and solitary confinement, a symbol of the Islamic Republic's repressive policies in the region. The attack occurred in two stages, causing nearby buildings to shake and shattering windows of several shops and homes in the vicinity. Local residents reported water and electricity outages lasting only a few hours, with no civilian casualties recorded.

Although authorities rushed to remove the building's rubble and completely bury the site for security reasons, residents continued to flock to the location until late at night, despite road closures and strict military surveillance imposed on the area.

On the same evening, the escalation extended to include the Daralak area, as well as the Koskhriz Special Brigade barracks near the city, with both sites subjected to new attacks—reflecting the widening scope of the strikes and the targeting of multiple security sites around Mahabad.

Police Station No. 13, located in the Posht-e Tab area of the Shilan district, was subjected to intense missile attacks. Some residential buildings were damaged by shattered windows, and electricity was cut off in these areas. No information has yet been received about the number of dead and wounded from the three latest attacks.

Reports indicated that many Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps forces in this city abandoned their organizational headquarters and took refuge in safe or private homes. Conscripts are being forced to continue serving under difficult conditions with no escape.

Simultaneously with the airstrikes on Mahabad, other cities in Eastern Kurdistan were targeted, including Sanandaj, Divandarreh, Baneh, Naqadeh, Urmia, Piranshahr, Saqqez, Javanrud, Kermanshah, Sarpol-e Zahab, Ilam, Shahabad, Paveh, Ravansar, Kamyaran, and Marivan.

Circulating reports indicate a civilian was killed during the attacks on Naqadeh. In Ravansar city, a 17-year-old girl named Hasti Mohammadi lost her life in attacks targeting the judiciary and the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps headquarters, both located adjacent to civilian homes.

News from Sanandaj city reports dozens of wounded soldiers inside the hospital, where admission of civilian patients has stopped due to overcrowding. Military wounded have also been transported from other cities. Photos published by Javanrood Agency show that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps headquarters was among the direct targets of the attacks, and that additional strikes were carried out after residents gathered in the vicinity of the bombed area. So far, no official casualty count from this attack has been announced by any party.

The situation in Piranshahr has also become highly tense. Last night, with the sound of explosions heard, reports emerged of clashes near military and security centers. Security forces' presence has been intensified throughout the city.

As a result of targeting military sites in the cities, human rights media outlets have issued numerous statements calling on citizens to refrain from visiting these sites and avoid heading to targeted areas. International human rights organizations have also been called upon to take action to protect civilian lives.
