Yazidi women participating in 3rd WWC: We are here to share our experiences and resistance

On the second day of the 3rd World Women’s Conference of grassroots women being held in Tunisia, Yazidi women will share their experiences and resistance against ISIS during the genocide against them.

Tunisia- The 3rd World Women’s Conference of the grassroots women attended by women from 30 Arab, African and European countries has entered its second day. The conference kicked off yesterday after a march held by women demanding equality, freedom and justice. The women attending the conference will share their experiences and discuss many issues during the seven-day conference.

Yazidi women will share their experiences during the genocide against them

Riham Hico, a coordinating member of the Yazidi Free Women's Movement (Tevgera Azadiya Jinên Êzîdî-TAJÊ) and Feride Şengali, Coordinator of the Yazidi Women’s Aid Network, are two of the Yazidi women participating in the conference. Thanking the coordinators of the conference for inviting her to the conference, Rîham Heco said, “We have participated in this conference on behalf of Yazidi women. We will tell what Yazidis faced during the genocide in detail and our struggle against it. We will share to the whole world how Yazidi women resisted ISIS. We wear our traditional clothes today and everyone seeing our clothes wants to know more about us. We, as Yazidi women, are the most subjected to attacks in the world. The conference will last until September 10 and we will take part in all discussions and panels during the conference.”

 “It is a historical conference for women”

The Yazidi Women’s Aid Network Coordinator Feride Şengali spoke to NuJINHA about the conference. Drawing attention to the importance of the conference, she said that the conference is a historical conference for women. “We are here to share our experiences and resistance,” she said, “We will tell our sufferings as well as the struggle and resistance of Yazidi women against ISIS. Participating in the conference held in Tunisia with the participation of women from 30 countries is very exciting for us. It is very sacred for us as Yazidi women to be able to participate in this historical conference. This conference is a big step for all women. It shows us that women have the capacity to build everything.”
