Families of prisoners: We demand the right to life

On the 288th day of their Justice Watch, the families of prisoners called on political parties to support their struggle.

Amed-The Justice Watch started by the families of prisoners demanding the release of sick prisoners and the prisoners, who are not released despite having completed their sentences, has entered its 288th day. Today, the families gathered in front of the Council of Forensic Medicine (ATK) in Diyarbakır to issue a press statement.

The families of prisoners received support from the members of the Association of Assistance and Solidarity with Families Who Lost Their Relatives in the Cradle of Civilizations (MEBYA-DER), Association for Solidarity with Families of Arrestees (TUAY-DER), Democratic Regions Party (DBP), Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), Diyarbakır Association of 78's and Mesopotamia Language, Culture and Research Association (MED-DER).

“Political parties must respond”

“Our demands must be met immediately,” Herdem Merwani, one of the relatives of prisoners, said, “Many sick prisoners are in critical condition. Their health deteriorates day by day. Everyone knows that we demand the right to life. This is a humanitarian demand. The political parties must respond to our demand immediately.”
