Woman prisoner having heart attack sent back to prison before recovering

Sick prisoner Muhlise Karagüzel was transferred to a hospital after having a heart attack in prison. Undergoing an angiogram at the hospital, she has been reportedly sent back to prison before recovering.

News Center- Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Muş Provincial former Co-chair Muhlise Karagüzel, who was sentenced to 8 years and 10 months in prison on charges of “being a member of a terrorist organization” and has held in the Kayseri Bünyan Prison, had a heart attack in the prison yesterday. She was transferred to a hospital and underwent an angiogram at the hospital. According to received reports, she was discharged from the hospital and taken back to prison although her health condition was not good.

“We will take all necessary legal actions”

Nuray Çevirmen, a central executive board member of the Human Rights Association (İHD), reacted to the transfer of Muhlise Karagüzel, who has undergone angiogram eight times while being held in prison and suffered from many diseases, from the hospital to the prison. “She had been transferred to the hospital after having a heart attack. She should have been transferred back to the prison after all risks were eliminated. But she was discharged from the hospital without eliminating all risks. There is a risk of complications. She may face life-threatening complications in prison. She should have been held in the hospital. As IHD, we will take all necessary legal actions about the situation of Muhlise.”
