Kurdistan Region: 3 women killed in July
At least three women were killed and three others died under suspicious circumstances in July in the Kurdistan Region, where the cases of gender-based violence and femicide are covered up.

News Center- The number of femicide cases and suspicious women’s deaths is on the rise in the Kurdistan Region. On March 24, 2025, the Ministry of Justice of the Kurdistan Region issued a ban on reporting the cases of femicide and suspicious women’s deaths.
In July 2025, at least three women were killed and three others died under suspicious circumstances in the Kurdistan Region, according to data compiled from local and national newspapers, news websites and news agencies by NuJINHA.
The data compiled by NuJINHA is as follows:
· July 3: A married woman namely H.R. died under suspicious circumstances in Ranya, a town located in the Sulaymaniyah governorate.
· July 5: A 41-year-old woman named Meryem Sîyarvdal died under suspicious circumstances.
· July 12: A woman identified as Firşte Sedî was tortured to death by her husband in the city of Erbil. Her dead body was found in Shawish.
· July 14: A 66-year-old woman namely Z.E. died under suspicious circumstances in the city of Kalar, Germiyan.
· July 17: A woman was shot dead by her male relatives in the city of Kalar, Germiyan.
· July 20: A man killed his father and sister in Shekhan, a district in the Nineveh Governorate.
· July 28: A man attacked his wife’s family in Haji Omeran, a town located in the Erbil Governorate, injuring three people, including two women.
· July 29: A 28-year-old woman was attacked by armed men in the city of Kalar. The woman was seriously injured.
25 women killed since the beginning of 2025
Since the beginning of 2025, 25 women have been killed and 15 others died under suspicious circumstances in the Kurdistan Region.
