On the 406th day of the sit-in protest started by the Şenyaşar family, Emine Şenyaşar has been summoned to testify for the 16th time for allegedly “insulting” unknown person/persons. “Take the testimony of those who killed my children,” Emine Şenyaşar said.

Riha - The sit-in protest, also known as “Justice Watch”, started in front of the Urfa Courthouse by Emine Şenyaşar, whose husband and two sons were killed in the attack carried out on June 14, 2018, in the Suruç district of Urfa province by the relatives and bodyguards of AKP Urfa MP İbrahim Halil Yıldız, and her son Ferit Şenyaşar, who survived the attack, has continued on its 406th day. In the morning, the Şenyaşar family came in front of the courthouse to keep holding their protest.

“Take the testimony of those who killed my children”

While Emine Şenyaşar was holding their sit-in protest in front of the courthouse, she was summoned to testify to the Urfa Provincial Security Directorate by police for the 16th time for allegedly “insulting” someone. “You force me to go from one police station to another. First, take the testimony of those who killed my children,” Emine Şenyaşar told the police officers. The police officers threatened the Şenyaşar family to take them into custody and told Emine Şenyaşar should go to the police station for identification. After the meeting of the family lawyers with the police officers, Emine Şenyaşar was taken to the Urfa Provincial Security Directorate for the 16th time to testify.

When Emine Şenyaşar went to the Urfa Provincial Security Directorate, she learned that she wouldn’t testify at the directorate but at the prosecutor’s office.  No information has been received about whom Emine Şenyaşar “insulted”.

“Everyone is aware of the persecution at the Şanlıurfa Courthouse. The President (@RTErdogan) knows very well that he has been misled. AKP MPs also know what happened. Everyone, except Fakıbaba (AKP MP Ahmet Eşref Fakıbaba), keeps silent. As a consequence, all authorities become a party to this persecution…” the Şenyaşar family posted today on their social media account.
