RONÎDA HACÎ

Hasakah - The construction of a wall between Shengal and Rojava by the Iraqi army continues to get reactions. Besima Dawud, a board member of Kongra Star in the Waşokani Camp, spoke to NuJINHA about the aim of the construction of the wall between Shengal and Rojava.

“The construction of the wall is the continuation of the fermans”

Besima Dawud stated that the wall being built between Rojava and Shengal is the continuation of the policies and consciousness of the forces, which have occupied Kurdistan, and said that the wall is a continuation of the fermans (edicts or genocides) against the Yazidi people. “The history will never forget the 73rd ferman against the Yazidis. This genocide has been engraved in everyone’s memory. ISIS carried out a brutal attack on the Yazidi people in 2014 with the support of the occupying Turkish state and killed thousands of women, children, old people, and civilians,” she added.

“The will of the people of Shengal is ignored”

Emphasizing that the Iraqi government did do nothing for the Yazidis people and withdrew from Shengal when the Yazidi people were killed, Besima Dawud said that the YPJ and YPG saved hundreds of thousands of Yazidis by opening a humanitarian corridor for them. “The people of Shengal have suffered from many massacres, so they have been strengthening their self-government system to resist all genocidal attacks. The construction of the wall means ignoring the will of the people of Shengal and maintaining the attacks of ISIS and the occupying Turkish state.”

“The Iraqi government jeopardizes the Kurdish cause”

Stating that the conspiracy against the free will of the Kurdish people continues, Besima Dawud emphasized that authoritarian regimes have new plans and continued her speech as follows:

“The people of North and East Syria, Rojava, and Shengal have established their own system to govern themselves and formed their defense forces but they are subjected to ongoing attacks. The occupying Turkish state has intervened in Iraq’s decision-making mechanisms and carried out attacks on Shengal and the mountains of Kurdistan, and the Iraqi government remains silent about these attacks. This silence serves the interests of the occupying Turkish state and jeopardizes the Kurdish cause.”

“PYD should be a part of the Turkish state’s plan”

Speaking about the meeting between Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Antalya on 12 March, Besima Dawud said, “Now, everyone knows that the Turkish state has attempted to invade the Media Protection Region and territories of Kurdistan. Today, the Kurds need unity and I call on the PYD to not be a part of the Turkish state’s plan.”

“We will fail the plans”

Besima Davud concluded her speech by emphasizing that the people of Shengal should keep struggling, “We will support the people of Shengal to the end. We will prevail with our free will and fail the plans aiming to divide us.”
