100th day of protest for justice: The wheel of this cruelty will break

Emine Şenyaşar and her son Ferit Şenyaşar have staged a sit-in protest demanding justice for 100 days. “The wheel of this cruelty will break,” the Şenyaşar family says in their tweet.

Riha – The sit-in protest staged by Emine Şenyaşar, whose husband and two sons were killed in an attack carried out by the relatives and bodyguards of AKP Urfa MP İbrahim Halil Yıldız, and her son Ferit Şenyaşar, who survived the attack, in front of Urfa Courthouse demanding justice has entered its 100th day. The family carried a banner reading, “A mother has staged a sit-in protest in front of the Urfa Courthouse demanding justice for 100 days. Her husband and two sons were killed at a hospital. No lawsuit has been opened for three years because the killers are relatives and bodyguards of a member of parliament.”

“The prosecutor becomes a party to this crime”

Ferit Şenyaşar made a press statement on the 100th day of their protest. He said:

“Our struggle for justice in front of the Şanlıurfa Courthouse is on its 100th day. A massacre was carried out at Suruç State Hospital under the control of a member of parliament. We filed a criminal complaint to the Constitutional Court and we are waiting for the result.  If the court makes a fair decision, a legal process will begin against Şanlıurfa Chief Public Prosecutor. Because the prosecutor has covered this massacre and becomes a party to this crime.

“Prosecutors are uncomfortable because we demand justice”

“I have been here with my mother for 100 days. The pavements of Şanlıurfa Courthouse become our second home. We cannot stay at our home. We don’t only stage a sit-in protest here; we also demand justice and struggle. Whenever we want to enter the courthouse and talk to prosecutors, police prevent us. The prosecutors are uncomfortable because we demand justice. But we will continue to bother them. Because there is a crime against humanity. We will not leave here until this crime is uncovered and the perpetrators stand trial. We take the risk of being detained and even killed. We will secure the justice and then we will go home.”

The wheel of this cruelty will break

Şenyaşar family also posted a tweet today and said, “What we have faced is not JUSTICE, it is cruelty. We will exist with hope against this cruelty. One day, the wheel of this cruelty will break. One day, they will be called to account.”
