Forcibly detained women released

Ankara Women’s Platform members were forcibly detained by police while they were making a call to invite people to the demonstration for the Istanbul Convention. The women have been released.

Ankara - Yesterday, Ankara Women’s Platform members gathered in the Sakarya Avenue of Ankara’s Çankaya district to call for participation in the demonstration to be held on June 19 for the “Istanbul Convention”. The women wanted to make a press statement but police prevented them and forcibly detained many women.

After police attacks, the women gathered at the building of the Eğitim Sen Ankara Branch No.2 and reacted to the police attack.

Detained women have been released. Names of detained and then release women are as follows; Aysun Gençtanır, Dilan Mollaahmetoğlu, Buse Üçer, Esma Çağlak, Sena Bademli, Nisan Çıra, Aslı Saraç,  İlay Kadiroğlu, Duru Gürkök, Nebiye Merttürk, Asya Derin, Emel Vural, Nupelda Çelik and Tuğba Koçer.
