Antalya – In Turkey, where harassment, rape, and violence against women and children are increasing, the perpetrators have been encouraged by Turkey’s withdrawal from the Istanbul Convention. “I was raped, please help, my name is Altun,” wrote a 12-year-old child on a stone in a playground in the Kepez district of Antalya province. A citizen found the stone and took its picture, then shared it on social media platforms. The picture sparked anger and many people demanded the perpetrators be arrested. After criticizes, police began to look for the child.

After searches, the child was found. The child said he has been subjected to sexual assault by his neighbor named H.E. since he was five years old. The perpetrator has reportedly lived in Adana province and sometimes comes to Antalya to sexually abuse the child. The perpetrator has been detained in Adana.
