Zilan Women’s Festival to kick off in Leverkusen
The 19th Zilan Women’s Festival will kick off in Leverkusen, Germany, on June 21.

News Center- The Kurdish Women's Union in Germany (YJK-E) will hold the 19th Zilan Women’s Festival in Leverkusen, a city in Germany, on June 21 with the participation of Kurdish women in Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands.
This year, the festival will be held in the spirit of the process of change and transformation that started by the “Call for Peace and Democratic Society” of Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan on February 27, the YJK-E said in a statement.
“We welcome the 19th Zilan Women's Festival this year in a much more meaningful, important and different atmosphere compared to the previous ones,” the statement said. “In order to build a democratic society, a mindset revolution should be started, led by women. As women, we are aware that we can achieve change by starting from ourselves and leading the society.”
In the statement, the YJK-E called on women, especially Kurdish women, to see the festival as “a space of resistance”.
According to the statement, many musicians such as Chopy, Berfin Mamedova, Baran Bozyel, Binevş Cizirî, Sosin, Nuarin, Özgür Işık and Zine Botanî will take the stage at the festival.
The YJK-E also called on all women in Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands to attend the festival that will be held in Leverkusen on June 21.
