Women of Rania Show Solidarity with Rojava’s Popular Resistance
Rania city in the Kurdistan Region witnessed a women-led mass march condemning attacks on North and East Syria, expressing support for the resistance and calling for unity.
Rania – A group of women activists in the city of Rania, the center of the Raperin district in the Kurdistan Region, organized a mass gathering to condemn the occupation attacks targeting Rojava and the international schemes aimed at destabilizing it.
The people of the Kurdistan Region have expressed broad popular solidarity through demonstrations and sit-ins rejecting the attacks carried out by jihadists of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and mercenaries of the Turkish occupation against Rojava. This popular unity reflects a firm determination to confront aggression and safeguard the rights of the region’s residents. In this context, a group of women activists organized a mass gathering in which they voiced their strong support for the resistance of Rojava, stressing the necessity of national unity and the strengthening of collective solidarity.
During the gathering, activist Tara Asos delivered a strongly worded speech to the public, emphasizing that such activities alone are not sufficient. She called for the immediate closure of markets and urged everyone—women, youth, and the elderly alike—to take to the streets, stating:
“Rojava is facing a serious threat, and if this danger is not stopped there, Turkey and its mercenaries will advance toward the Kurdistan Region and the other parts as well.”
She stressed the importance of women being at the forefront of the movement, affirming that this is not a day to sit back or watch, but a day for unity and solidarity. “The key to resolving all crises lies in achieving national unity,” she said, calling on political parties to abandon narrow interests and work alongside the people to break the artificial borders, so that Rojava is not left alone in the face of these threats.
For her part, activist Shadi Samad strongly condemned the brutal attacks launched by the jihadists of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham against Rojava, describing them as “an inhumane decision imposed on the Kurds by authoritarian forces and enemies of the nation.” She added, “As a woman, I address my call to all citizens—women and men, young and old—to take to the streets and express their rejection.”
In her concluding remarks, she stressed the necessity of unity among the Kurdish people in all parts of Kurdistan, noting that it is a source of pride for the people of the Kurdistan Region to be united and for the people of Northern Kurdistan to break artificial borders. However, she pointed out that the parties in the region have yet to take a clear stance, calling on both the authorities and the opposition to take serious action, stand on the front lines, and categorically reject these mass atrocities.
