Qamishlo — Women from Kurdish, Arab, and Syriac communities in the city of Qamishlo in Rojava affirmed that they will continue their struggle with the spirit of the philosophy “Jin Jiyan Azadî” (Women, Life, Freedom) and through unity among communities to protect their rights.
During the Rojava Revolution, women struggled for one goal: freedom and justice. Kurdish, Arab, and Syriac women stood side by side in fields of struggle and civil activities.
Sibal Youssef said that Kurdish, Arab, and Syriac women, as International Women’s Day approaches, will raise the level of their struggle through unity.
“Women are the most important and fundamental pillar of society. Women around the world, especially Kurdish women, are fighting to achieve women’s rights,” she said.
She explained that women have carried out a struggle lasting hundreds of years, leading resistance and activism in all areas of life—political, military, cultural, artistic, and economic. Thanks to this struggle, women who were previously denied the right to express their existence due to patriarchal mentality have proven their presence, and every woman has begun to take her place in society.
She added, “As women, we will raise the level of our struggle through unity, and we congratulate all women of the world on Women’s Day on March 8.”
For her part, Maryam Al-Hayani renewed her commitment, as an Arab woman, to continue the struggle for building a democratic society, congratulating all women on March 8.
She said, “Before the Rojava Revolution, the Baath regime violated women’s rights.” She noted that women faced many difficulties, but after the start of the Rojava Revolution and with women’s leadership, women from different communities united and began a shared life and struggle to obtain their rights.
She pointed out that women have become decision-makers and have continued their struggle for years to build a democratic society where the rights of all communities are protected.
“On the occasion of March 8, we renew our pledge to struggle and congratulate all women around the world on International Women’s Day,” she added.
Meanwhile, Sabah Shabo confirmed that women will continue their struggle with the philosophy “Jin Jiyan Azadî” to ensure women’s rights are guaranteed in the new Syrian constitution.
She explained that as International Women’s Day approaches, women have achieved many accomplishments through years of struggle.
“We women in Rojava have achieved significant gains since the beginning of the revolution and carried out an exceptional struggle, and we will work to protect these achievements. One of the most important gains is that women have become decision-makers,” she said.
She emphasized that to protect these achievements, “all women must struggle together in the spirit of the philosophy Jin Jiyan Azadî, so that women’s rights can be established and guaranteed in the new Syrian constitution.”
