The first hearing of the trial against 11 women, members of the Free Women’s Movement (Kurdish: Tevgera Jinên Azad-TJA), on charges of “membership in an illegal organization” was held Tuesday at the Istanbul 25th High Criminal Court.

The women and their lawyers attended the hearing, monitored by Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Istanbul MP Özgül Saki, the members of the Women's Time Association, the Peace Mothers’ Initiative and the TJA.  

At the hearing, the lawyer of the women requested the lift of the “judicial control” decision against the women.

The judge rejected the request of the lawyers. Next hearing will be held on February 13, 2025.
