Cairo- In Egypt, violence against women is rising due to deepening gender inequality while women and girls do their best to break gender stereotypes and participate in all facets of life. Women and girls involved in sports make great efforts to break gender stereotypes.
‘They make great efforts to achieve their goals’
Dr. Hind Faruk Abdullah, an academic at the Faculty of Physical Education for Girls, Helwan University, got involved in sports because her mother asked her to be a physical education teacher. “I did my best to become a physical education teacher,” she told us. “Girls have more passion in sports than boys because they strive to prove themselves. They make great efforts to achieve their goals.”
‘They need to be encouraged’
Hind Faruk Abdullah thinks that one of the biggest challenges faced by girls in sports is the financial challenge. “Today, both boys and girls are involved in sports and athletics. Girls need to be encouraged because they have made extraordinary efforts to achieve their goals.”
