Iran has sentenced Kurdish actress Shohreh Ghamar to four years and eight months in prison, her lawyer, Ali Sharifzadeh Ardakani, announced on Sunday.

On April 12, 2025, Shohreh Ghamar, originally from Sanandaj and living in Tehran, was sentenced to three years and six months in prison on charges of f “supporting Israel” and fourteen months on charges of “spreading false information in support of the Women, Life, Freedom movement and inciting public opinion”, Ali Sharifzadeh Ardakani said, confirming that an appeal against the verdict has been filed.
On August 5, 2023, Shohreh Ghamar was arrested. After 42 days in detention, she was released on bail on September 11, 2023.
