Jinnews: Men killed 31 women and 5 children in August

Men killed 31 women and five children, 15 women and three children died under suspicious circumstances in August, Jinnews, an all-women news agency based in Amed (Diyarbakır), said in its August 2024 report on femicide in Türkiye.

Men killed 31 women and five children, 15 women and three children died under suspicious circumstances in August, the report said.

Violence against women and children increases, the judicial impunity plays an important role in this increase, the report added.

According to the report, six women were killed by their partners, nine by their husbands, one by her grandson, one by her ex-husband, four by their estranged husbands, three by their male relatives, one by her ex-partner, one by her father, four by men they knew and one by her brother.

In August, one woman was killed in Antalya, one in Denizli, two in Ankara, one in Siirt, three in Konya, one in Samsun, two in Afyon, two in Mersin, four in Istanbul, one in Riha (Urfa), two in Tekirdağ, one in Balıkesir, one in Muğla, two in Izmir, one in Zonguldak, one in Kocaeli, one in Giresun, one in Eskişehir, one in Hatay, one in Trabzon and one in Adana.
