Women demand abolishment of death penalty in Iran

In a joint statement, a group of university students and women activists in Rojhelat called on the Iranian authorities to revoke the death sentences against Pakhshan Azizi and Warisha (Verisheh) Moradi.

News Center- A group of university students and women activists in Rojhelat Kurdistan (Eastern Kurdistan or Iranian Kurdistan) have released a joint statement, condemning the death sentences handed down to Pakhshan Azizi and Warisha (Verisheh) Moradi, two Kurdish political prisoners.

“The Iranian regime aims to take revenge on women for the ‘Jin, Jiyan, Azadî’ uprising,” the statement said. “Everyone must take action against the execution of women fighting for freedom. We call on all Kurds to support the general strike to be held tomorrow against the death sentences handed down to Pakhshan Azizi and Warisha (Verisheh) Moradi.”

The women also called on the Iranian authorities to revoke the death sentences against Pakhshan Azizi and Warisha (Verisheh) Moradi.

On Monday, Six political parties and organizations in Rojhelat Kurdistan released a joint statement, calling for a general strike on January 22 to protest the death sentences handed down to Pakhshan Azizi and Warisha Moradi.
