Emine Şenyaşar fined 7,040 TL over insulting allegations
Emine Şenyaşar has been fined 7,040 TL ($430) over allegations of “insulting” Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu and AKP MP İbrahim Halil Yıldız.
Riha - The sit-in protest held in front of the Urfa Courthouse by Emine Şenyaşar, whose husband and two sons were killed in the attack carried out by the relatives and bodyguards of AKP Urfa MP İbrahim Halil Yıldız in the Suruç district of Urfa province on June 14, 2018, and her son Ferit Şenyaşar continues on its 455th day. Today, Emine Şenyaşar stays at her home in the Suruç district of Urfa province due to her health problems while her son Ferit Şenyaşar is in Ankara to demand legal support from human rights organizations.
“Our seeking for “justice and truth” continues on the second day in Ankara. Everyone we spoke with knows our case very well. We will not allow unlawfulness to become common,” the Şenyaşar family posted today on their social media account.
Meanwhile, the verdict of one of four lawsuits against Emine Şenyaşar for allegedly “insulting” Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu and AKP MP İbrahim Halil Yıldız has been announced. Urfa 2nd Criminal Court of First Instance has fined Emine Şenyaşar 740 TL for allegedly insulting AKP MP İbrahim Halil Yıldız and 5,300 TL for allegedly insulting Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu.
Another lawsuit against Emine Şenyaşar
Another lawsuit has been reportedly opened against Emine Şenyaşar for allegedly “insulting” AKP MP İbrahim Halil Yıldız on an “undetermined” date.
16 investigations have been launched against Emine Şenyaşar, who has faced legal harassment since she started the sit-in protest on March 9, 2021. Until now, five lawsuits have been opened against her over the same allegation.
