Khuzestan's Court of Appeal confirmed today, Friday, July 24, the one-year prison sentence handed down to union activist Kowkab Baghi Zadeh, a member of the Khuzestan Teachers' Union, after upholding the earlier ruling issued by Branch One of the Revolutionary Court in Ahvaz on charges of "propaganda activity against the Islamic Republic of Iran."

the objections submitted failed to change theruling, as the Eighteenth Chamber deemed the appeal insufficient to overturn the decision, deciaring the verdict final.

In a related development, the Coordinating Council of Iranian Teachers' Trade Associations published a statement via Telegram condemning the judicial ruling, demanding the annulment of sentences issued against union activists and an end to the judicial prosecutions targeting teachers.
