Actress Nilüfer Aydan sentenced to 11 months, 20 days in prison for insulting Erdoğan

Actress Nilüfer Aydan has been sentenced to 11 months and 20 days in prison for allegedly “insulting the president”.

News Center- A lawsuit was opened against actress Nilüfer Aydan for social media postings that allegedly insulted President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The Anadolu 37th Criminal Court of First Instance has sentenced Nilüfer Aydan to 11 months and 20 days in prison.

The court ruled the deferment of the announcement of the verdict.

What Happened

The Public Prosecutor of Anadolu (Istanbul) prepared an indictment against actress Nilüfer Aydan and claimed that Nilüfer Aydan insulted the president for her social media postings in 2016, 2017, and 2018. In the indictment, the prosecutor demanded up to eight years prison sentence against Nilüfer Aydan for allegedly “insulting the president”.
