Women detained while participating activity for November 25 released

Police raided the activity held to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and detained 11 women, including Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP) President Özlem Gümüştaş. The detained 11 women have been released.

News Center - The Socialist Women's Assemblies (Sosyalist Kadın Meclisleri-SKM) and the Young Free Women (Özgür Genç Kadın-ÖGK) held an activity in the office of the Cactus Young Women's Association in Istanbul’s Kadıköy district to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. Riot police raided the office and detained 11 women, including Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP) President Özlem Gümüştaş and SKM Spokesperson Çiçek Otlu.

After being questioned at the police station, the women have been released.
