Tishreen Dam- The people of North and East Syria, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Women's Defense Units (YPJ) have been waging a historic resistance against the attacks of the Turkish state and Turkish-backed factions on the Tishreen Dam and the Qereqozax Bridge to protect the unity and integrity of Syrian territory.
NuJINHA spoke to Amira Mohammed, one of the commanders of the YPJ, about the latest developments in the resistance on the Tishreen Dam.
“The SDF and the YPJ fight on the front line against the armed groups supported by the Turkish state. They make great efforts to repulse the attacks with all their strength,” Amira Mohammed told us. “The Turkish state and Turkish-backed factions aim to occupy the areas liberated from ISIS by the blood of the martyrs.”
Amira Mohammed stressed that they would never allow the Turkish state and Turkish-backed factions to achieve their goals. “The Syrian Democratic Forces and the Women’s Defense Units fought against ISIS and defeated it. We will defeat all forces targeting our region.”
Amira Mohammed called on all identities, including the Kurdish, Arab and Syriac people, in North and East Syria to unite against the attacks and emphasized the important role of women in the fight against the attacks. “The YPJ plays an important role in the resistance against the attacks. Today, female fighters resist the attacks to protect their people. We will ensure security and safety in our region. Victory will be ours because we defend our homeland and protect our people against every attack targeting our region.”
