Sit-in protest of Şenyaşar family enters its 527th day

On the 527th day of the sit-in protest held by the Şenyaşar family in front of the Urfa Courthouse, the members of the Union of Chambers of Turkish Engineers and Architects (TMMOB) visited the family to be in solidarity with them.

Riha - The sit-in protest held in front of the Urfa Courthouse by Emine Şenyaşar, whose husband and two sons were murdered in the attack carried out by the relatives and bodyguards of AKP Urfa MP İbrahim Halil Yıldız in the Suruç district of Urfa province on June 14, 2018, and her son Ferit Şenyaşar has entered its 527th day.

The mother and her son came in front of the Urfa Courthouse from their home in the Suruç district an hour later than other days because they had a weekly phone call with Fadıl Şenyaşar, who has been kept in a solitary cell in the Elazığ Prison. The family members have been prevented by police from holding their sit-in protest in the shade at the entrance of the courthouse for eight days. Today, the family began to hold their sit-in protest in front of the Urfa Courthouse along with board members of the Urfa Provincial Coordination of the Union of Chambers of Turkish Engineers and Architects (TMMOB).

“We object to this ongoing persecution”

“Our sit-in protest for justice is on its 527th day. We have been holding our sit-in protest along with the members of the TMMOB. This sit-in protest is the picture of justice in Turkey. We object to this ongoing persecution,” the Şenyaşar family wrote on their social media account today.
