News Center - Last night, 43-year-old Fiza Eli Nasire died while trying to save her child from drowning in the Choman River, according to the statement released by the officials in Soran, a city in Erbil Governorate.

A search and rescue team arrived at the scene of the incident. The officials identify the mother, who drowned trying to save her child as Fiza Eli Nasire, an Arab woman from Ranya, a town in the Kurdistan Region.

According to the official data, seven people have drowned in rivers in Soran since the beginning of 2022.
