The regions of Rojava are witnessing a rising state of popular vigilance and readiness amid ongoing threats to the security and stability of the area.

Qamishlo – Women in the city of Qamishlo continue to affirm their full readiness to defend their land and protect their society. Despite the declared ceasefire, vigilance remains present in every corner of the city, as women uphold their national responsibilities in safeguarding the security of the region and defending it by all available means.
From bearing arms to providing logistical support on the frontlines, women’s roles are not confined to traditional social functions. Rather, they are essential partners in resistance and resilience. At a time when the people of North and East Syria face continuous threats, women emphasize that their unity with all components of the region—Arabs, Syriacs, and others—is grounded in solidarity and shared resistance against any attempts to undermine security or sow discord among communities.
Unprecedented Solidarity
Samira Hussein confirmed that the state of readiness among the Kurdish people, especially women, has not diminished following the announced ceasefire; on the contrary, it has intensified due to their deep awareness of the security challenges facing the region.
“Any attempt to destabilize security or threaten the safety of the region will be met with vigilance and an immediate response from everyone. This vigilance is not mere observation; it entails comprehensive practical preparedness across all sectors of society, ranging from direct defense to logistical support and social solidarity,” she stated.
She stressed the pivotal role of women, noting that “women have become an effective defensive force, actively participating in protecting the land and achievements—whether through direct involvement in bearing arms and defending targeted areas, or through vital support roles such as preparing food for fighters, overseeing supplies, and contributing to community organization in the face of threats.” She explained that these roles reflect women’s deep commitment to their historical responsibility toward their society and land, embodying a profound awareness of the right to defend the land and preserve the dignity of the people.
Samira Hussein pointed out that the current phase is marked by unprecedented solidarity among Kurdish components, as all segments of society unite against any attack or attempt to sow division.
“This solidarity includes all sectors—youth and elders, women and men—and constitutes a natural deterrent force against anyone seeking to harm the region’s security. This societal cohesion reflects a collective awareness that defending the land and shared life is a responsibility borne by all, and that any complacency could pose a real threat to security and stability.”
She added that support for unity is not limited to Kurds alone, but extends to Arabs, Syriacs, and all other components who share this living conscience that rejects all forms of genocide and forced displacement.
“Protecting civilians and preserving coexistence has become a shared goal. This unity and social solidarity represent the cornerstone of resistance against aggressive projects, and any attempt to create divisions will fail in the face of a unified popular will.”
She further explained that residents—especially women—are committed to proactive planning and continuous preparedness to confront any potential threat, whether through self-defense, providing support to fighters, ensuring the continuity of basic services, or protecting vital facilities.
“Women play a strategic role in maintaining public morale and reinforcing social discipline to prevent the exploitation of circumstances for aggressive objectives.”
Samira Hussein concluded by affirming that the Kurdish people, supported by all aware and prepared components, will not allow threats to pass unchallenged.
“Protecting the land and society is not merely a duty—it is an existential issue that touches the life of every individual, and women will remain at the forefront of this defense.”
A Ceasefire Does Not Mean Lasting Peace
For her part, Fatima Mohammed stated that the announced ceasefire does not in any way imply abandoning rights or remaining silent in the face of threats to the Kurdish people or the security of the region.
“The Kurdish people are ready to confront whatever lies ahead. Vigilance and preparedness are not temporary options, but a permanent responsibility and national duty. We have never bowed our heads, and we never will. We are a people with legitimate rights like all peoples of the world, and we will demand them regardless of the challenges, despite all attempts to erase our Kurdish identity or undermine our existence.”
She affirmed that the Kurdish people will remain on their land and everywhere they exist, and that any attempt to target their presence or erase their identity will fail before the will of a united and cohesive people.
“The current phase requires the highest levels of solidarity and unity, especially among women, who play a central role in protecting society and defending the land—whether through bearing arms, providing logistical support to fighters, overseeing community affairs, or securing basic needs during times of tension and crisis.”
She issued a special call to women, saying:
“We must all stand together as one, and be ready for every possibility. Resistance is our collective responsibility, and we will not hesitate for a single moment to protect our land, our people’s achievements, and our dignity. Whatever is required of us, we will do with determination and resolve. Past experiences have proven that many declared ceasefires existed only on paper and failed to protect rights or prevent attempts to undermine security.”
She stressed that this phase is different, and that the Kurdish people will not accept retreat or compromise on principles.
“Our rights, homeland, and land are not subject to negotiation. It is our natural right to live in safety and dignity on our land, just as it is the right of any people in the world to protect themselves and preserve their existence.”
She emphasized that the Kurdish people will neither retreat nor bow before any force, and that the choice of resistance and defense of land and identity will remain steadfast until the last breath.
“Kurds will remain present everywhere, raising the banner of resilience and proving that their unity and steadfast will enable them to confront all threats aimed at destabilizing the region.”
Fatima Mohammed concluded by affirming that Kurdish women will remain at the heart of defending the land and will continue to play their pivotal role in safeguarding and protecting society.
“All women of North and East Syria are ready to unite and work collectively. This readiness and vigilance will not cease for a single moment—it is the choice of Kurdish life and the key to its resilience in the face of all future challenges and crises.”
