Kurdish political activist Bafrin Maroufi arrested
Bafrin Maroufi, a 44-year-old Kurdish political activist from the city of Bukan, was arrested and transferred to the women’s ward of Urmia Central Prison on Sunday to serve her prison sentence.

News Center- Bafrin Maroufi, a 44-year-old Kurdish political activist from the city of Bukan, was arrested and transferred to the women’s ward of Urmia Central Prison on Sunday to serve her prison sentence, the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights reported.
Bafrin Maroufi was arrested in a house raid conducted by Ministry of Intelligence forces at her home in the city on January 30, 2025. She was temporarily released on bail on February 15, 2025 after spending 16 days in pretrial detention at Urmia Central Prison.
The Kurdish political activist was then sentenced to four months and seven days in prison by Branch 101 of the Criminal Court of Bukan on charges of “collaborating with the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan.”
