Mauritania — Women participants at Medex 2025 presented outstanding insights on the role of women in promoting health and emphasized their vital importance as key partners in developing the healthcare sector. They affirmed that women are capable of building bridges of cooperation between global health institutions, particularly in combating diseases and exchanging medical expertise.
The Mauritanian capital, Nouakchott, hosted the second edition of the Medex 2025 Exhibition on Wednesday, December 3, with broad international participation from various countries. The event is considered one of the most prominent medical gatherings in Mauritania in recent years. It aims to develop the national healthcare sector, promote innovation, and strengthen international partnerships among professionals across different medical specialties.
This edition comes after the great success of last year’s first edition, as the exhibition witnessed larger attendance and more diverse participation this year, reflecting the growing interest in advancing Mauritania’s healthcare sector and opening new horizons for cooperation with global institutions.
During the exhibition, our agency met with several female figures from different countries who shared important perspectives on the role of women in healthcare development, technology, and international cooperation.
Women Play a Central Role in Promoting Health and Work
On the sidelines of the exhibition, Senegalese Dr. Nima Gatni affirmed that health is the foundation upon which all success is built, and that maintaining it is the first step toward a balanced and productive life. She stressed that women play a central and essential role in promoting health within the family and society.
She explained that this role does not constitute a major challenge when knowledge and support are available; rather, it can become a positive force that contributes to building a more aware and healthier community.
“For her part, Moroccan technology expert Sabrine Ashtabi stressed that work remains essential for women—not only to achieve financial independence, but also to reinforce their presence and active role in society—considering women’s empowerment in the labor market a necessity for boosting innovation.
Women Build Bridges of Cooperation Between Nations
The Chinese representative Demi, who participated in the exhibition, affirmed that she came to represent her country at this important international event. She pointed out that such events greatly contribute to the exchange of expertise and the strengthening of joint health efforts, and she called for enhanced international cooperation in health fields due to its direct impact on the quality of services provided to communities
“In the same context, Spanish representative Minio Rovero said she participated to represent the hospital where she works in her country, aiming to build bridges of cooperation between their institution and Mauritania’s health sector. She also expressed her readiness to contribute to joint efforts, especially in limiting the spread of diseases and exchanging medical expertise for the public good.”
Mauritanian representative Fatimata Camara, who participated in the exhibition, also stressed that first aid is an ‘indispensable necessity,’ noting that it represents the first line of defense in saving lives and reducing health risks. She emphasized the importance of training women in first aid skills, as this plays a vital role in enhancing safety and public health within the community, especially since women are often the closest to family members during emergencies.”
At the conclusion of the international medical event, the vital role of women across various fields—whether in healthcare, technology, or international cooperation—was clearly highlighted. Medex 2025 also reflects Mauritania’s growing orientation toward developing its health sector through openness to global experiences, attracting expertise, and strengthening women’s presence as key partners in social and health development.
