“Why have you jailed Hatun Aslan and Meryem Soylu?”
HDP Diyarbakır MP Semra Güzel summited a parliamentary question, asking why Hatun Aslan (71) and Meryem Soylu (79) are jailed.
News Center- Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Diyarbakır MP Semra Güzel summited a parliamentary question about the pressures on the Solidarity with Families Who Lost Their Relatives in the Cradle of Civilizations Association (MEBYA-DER) and rights violations in five years to be answered by Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay.
Semra Güzel asked the following questions in the parliamentary question;
“*How many non-governmental organizations have been closed since the declaration of the state of emergency, for what reasons?
* Since the declaration of the state of emergency, how many members and administrators of non-governmental organizations have been detained and how many have been jailed?
* How many complaints have been filed about torture and ill-treatment in detention in the last five years?
* How many security force personnel have been investigated as a result of the complaints and what kinds of sanctions have been imposed on them?
* How many complaints have been filed for torture and ill-treatment in prisons in the last five years?
* How many meetings, press statements, demonstrations, and marches have been banned in the last five years?
* How many writers, academics and journalists have been detained and jailed in the last five years?
* How many magazines, publishing houses and newspapers have been fined, closed down, blocked to access in the last five years?
*How many associations, political parties, unions, and press organizations have been raided by police in the last five years?
*How many people have been detained, jailed for their posts on social media in the last five years?
* How many adult and child workers have died in work-related murders in the last five years?
* How many women have been subjected to male violence and how many of them have lost their lives in the last five years?
* What are the legal grounds for the jail of Meryem Soylu (71), administrator of the MEBYA-DER, and Meryem Soylu (79)? How many political prisoners over 65 are currently in prisons? How many political prisoners have died in prison in the last five years?”
