Sulaymaniyah- The short film called “18-19” has been produced with the support of the People's Development Organization and in collaboration with Norwegian Peoples' Aid (NPA). The 15-minute film will tell the true stories of young women. 35 actors star in the film.
Roje Hesen, the director of the film, stated that the film was shot in Sulaymaniyah and that they are working on editing the film now.
“Young women tell their stories in the film. We have two purposes for shooting this film. Our first purpose is to show what young women have gone through. And our second purpose is to make the audience question life. The scriptwriters and directors of many films are men. They don’t care about women; they only show men as heroes. For this reason, we, as women, try to show women’s stories and the facts because there are many unwritten true stories of women. Women have different perspectives in the cinema industry.”
“Even though women face many difficulties in life, they can stand on their own legs. This film shows how women turning 18 can stand on their own legs despite all the challenges,” Sina Ceza, who stars in the short film, told us.
