Your fight is ours, and your dignity is our dignity
The Star Conference affirmed: “Women of Al-Fasher are not alone… we stand with them, as voice and shield.” The philosophy of “Women, Life, Freedom” is not a slogan, but a promise of struggle, organization, and unconquerable dignity.
Qamishlo – The Star Conference in Qamishlo, in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, expressed its solidarity with the women of Sudan, especially those in the city of Al-Fasher, who face the most severe forms of violence and violations. The statement declared: “Your fight is our fight, and your dignity is our dignity. Unity, organization, and the ability to protect oneself are the true forces that will create freedom and justice.”
On Wednesday, November 5, the Star Conference issued a statement expressing solidarity with Sudanese women experiencing inhumane practices and violations. It stated: “We, the women fighters of the Star Conference, raise our voices today with hearts heavy with sorrow and pain, standing in solidarity with every woman in Sudan, especially the women of Al-Fasher, who are enduring the darkest moments of their lives under brutal violence, systematic killings, rape, arbitrary detention, enforced disappearances, and the displacement of thousands from their homes.”
The statement emphasized that what the women of Al-Fasher have faced is not merely attacks, but crimes against humanity and deliberate extermination of women, targeting every society striving for freedom and justice. It affirmed: “Your suffering is our suffering, and we share your pain, fear, and despair. We are determined that global silence will not drown out your voices, and injustice will not threaten your lives without accountability.”
The Star Conference highlighted that “women are the heart and backbone of society, and their freedom and independence are the foundation of every free and just society. In the difficult circumstances faced by the women of Al-Fasher, it is the duty of women everywhere to protect themselves and their existence. Protection is not achieved by relying solely on others but through building strong women’s organizational networks. Women must unite from all cities and villages, establish practical protection mechanisms, including self-defense, collective safe spaces, monitoring and documentation, and provide psychological and material support to survivors and those affected. Organizing socially and collectively is not optional—it is the means of survival and maintaining dignity in the face of oppression and tyranny.”
The statement stressed that women’s struggle against occupation, violence, and authoritarianism cannot be individual: “It is a collective struggle that requires unity among women everywhere, and a shared voice confronting injustice with full strength and determination. Every attack on a woman is an attack on the entire society, and every step women take to protect themselves and organize their communities is a step toward freedom, dignity, and justice. Through the philosophy of ‘Women, Life, Freedom,’ we declare that the pain of Sudanese women is a global pain, and it is the responsibility of all free women in the world to support them, amplify their voices, and call on the international community for urgent and real action to save women and protect their rights.”
“We raise our voice today to the international community and human rights and humanitarian organizations,” the statement urged immediate action to end the war and stop all forms of violence against the women of Al-Fasher and all Sudanese women. “The cries of women must be heard, their lives and dignity respected, and full support provided, including safe shelter, urgent medical and psychological care, and unhindered humanitarian aid to all affected areas.”
The Star Conference called for the opening of an independent and transparent international investigation to uncover the truth and hold all perpetrators accountable, ensuring no one escapes punishment and sending a clear message that violations of women’s rights will not go unpunished. “We emphasize the need to support local women’s initiatives and empower women to actively participate in decision-making and rebuilding society on the foundations of justice and equality, to permanently end violence and establish genuine, inclusive peace that protects women and ensures freedom and dignity for all members of society.”
In conclusion, the statement affirmed that the resilience and struggle of Sudanese women for dignified life and human dignity is an extension of the struggle of all free women worldwide, and that solidarity with them is not a passing sentiment but a moral, human, and collective responsibility. “We declare to you that we are your support and strength, sharing your suffering and raising your voices to the world. Your fight is our fight, and your dignity is our dignity. Unity, organization, and the ability to protect oneself are the true forces that will create freedom and justice. The Star Conference will continue to support all women in building a society that ensures equality, security, and independence, free from violence and oppression, according to the philosophy of ‘Women, Life, Freedom,’ which represents the essence of our vision and existence.
