Manbij- The Women’s Council of the Future Syria Party's Women's Council held a meeting in Manbij on June 15 with the participation of the women tribal leaders to discuss how to protect the women’s gains amid the Turkish threats.

Women oppose the Turkish occupation

Azab Al-Aboud, the head of the Future Syria Party Council in Manbij, and Ibtisam Abdel Qader, spokesperson of the Women's Council of the party also attended the meeting. They discussed the role of women against the occupation by demonstrating a spirit of resistance and struggle.

On May 31, the Women's Council of the Future Syria Party launched the “Unite...Resist...Achieve Freedom” campaign against the ongoing Turkish attacks. “Today, two meetings were held with the participation of many women as part of the campaign,” Ibtisam Abdel Qader told NuJINHA.

Women leaders will protect the revolution

The meeting took place in light of "extraordinary and delicate circumstances in the region”, according to Ibtisam Abdel Qader.  The women tribal leaders participating in the meeting voiced their thoughts about the ongoing Turkish threats. “Today, we, as women and tribal leaders in Manbij, oppose the threats aimed at occupying our region,” they said.

Jasmine Gojo, spokesperson of the Center for Jineology Research in Manbij, said that women participating in the meeting discussed on rights violations against women in the occupied regions, the effects of the Syrian crisis on women, solution to end rights violations against women and the Turkish threats against women’s gains in the region. “What is important is to protect the gains of the revolution and solidarity of the people in the region after Manbij was liberated from ISIS,” she said.
