Women of Kobani Lead Solidarity with the People of Aleppo By Berjem Judi

recent days, the city of Aleppo has witnessed a dangerous escalation as jihadists from Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) besieged the predominantly Kurdish neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh, launching heavy attacks with various weapons.

kobani-The assaults resulted in civilian casualties and widespread destruction, while authorities failed to take effective action. In response, women from the targeted neighborhoods took to the streets in protest, their voices echoing the anger and determination of a community under siege.

Women from Kobani, in the Euphrates region of North and East Syria, expressed strong solidarity with the residents of Aleppo, denouncing the attacks and calling for the protection of civilians.

“We Will Never Bow — Resistance Will Continue”
Khanem Ali, the widow of a martyr from the Kobani resistance, emphasized that Kurdish women have proven throughout history that they will never bow before any extremist or oppressive force.
“The Kurdish people have become more aware and resolute in defending their land and dignity,” she said. “No one should imagine they can occupy our regions again. Our people sacrificed their lives so that we could live with freedom and honor. We will not step back — our struggle for dignity continues.”
She added that the current attacks are driven by followers of Erdogan, asserting: “Those who did not dare confront the Turkish state directly cannot face its militias either.”
Ali affirmed her readiness to defend the besieged neighborhoods and praised the steadfastness of their residents: “The people of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh stood with us during the Kobani resistance and made great sacrifices. We, the people of Kobani, are ready once again — with full will and determination — to stand by our people in Aleppo. This fight is a continuation of our struggle for dignity and freedom.”
“The Resistance in Aleppo Represents the Voice of All Peoples of North and East Syria”
Kalima Mohammed, another activist from Kobani, described the ongoing resistance in Aleppo as a unified stand by all communities in the region against attempts to undermine their hard-won gains.

“We salute the resilience of our people and their steadfast stance,”

she said. “Through their willpower, they have become the voice of all of us in the face of extremism. The people of Ashrafieh and Sheikh Maqsoud today embody our collective spirit. From Kobani, we tell them: you are not alone — our hearts are with you.”

She added that moments threatening a people’s dignity are precisely the moments when true resistance emerges: “Defending our existence is a continuation of the resistance at Tishreen Dam — a milestone in our struggle. We are ready, with the same spirit, to march to Aleppo if necessary, to defend life, freedom, and human dignity.”

Responding to accusations against the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Mohammed stressed that these forces represent the will of the people of North and East Syria: “Anyone who challenges the SDF challenges all of us. The SDF is a red line — untouchable. Those who cross it will face decisive consequences.”

She added that claims by the Syrian Interim Government that the SDF represents “only 5% of Kurds” are false: “Let them test that for themselves — they will see the true popular support behind the SDF.”

She concluded: “They have already received their answer — in Aleppo, in Deir Hafer, and beyond. Our people will never give up defending their dignity and existence.”

“The Resistance of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh Has Broken the Siege”
Mayson Kiwar, a young woman from Kobani, affirmed that jihadists from HTS failed to make any advances despite their use of heavy weaponry: “They couldn’t take a single step into our neighborhoods. Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh will never be an easy target.”

She highlighted that residents of all ages — from children to the elderly — stood united, facing the attacks with remarkable courage and solidarity: “This steadfastness reflects an unbreakable will.”

Mayson emphasized the central role of women, particularly young women, in leading the resistance: “We believe that the strength of our people in Aleppo will be the true answer to all aggression. We salute the women leading this struggle — for when women lead the resistance, victory becomes inevitable.”
