Warn for provocation and riot in Bakırköy Women's Closed Prison

Former HDP Sultangazi District Co-Chair Berivan Zadsan, who has been kept in Bakırköy Women’s Closed Prison, warned that the prison officials try to create provocation.

News Center- Berivan Zadsan, former co-chair of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Sultangazi district of Istanbul, had a phone call with her family and told them the rights violations in the prison. She warned that the prison officials have tried to create provocation. Eren Keskin, co-chair of the Human Rights Association (İHD) has announced what has been happening in the prison.

Seriously sick prisoners are not taken to the infirmary

In her phone call with her sister Bahar Zadsan, Berivan Zadsan said that they are subjected to search by the prison administration during every count and that all their belongings, particularly cleaning materials, are confiscated. Bahar Zadsan recorded the call with her sister and shared it. In the audio recording, Berivan Zadsan said that seriously sick prisoners are not taken to the infirmary.

Prisoners suffer from scabies

“The torturers in the Amed (Diyarbakır) prison are now in Bakırköy (prison),” Berivan Zadsan said that the prison officials constantly provoke the prisoners to riot. She also said that they are not allowed to see the prison’s director and their requests to meet with the prosecutor are also rejected. “They are gradually limiting our living space. The waged psychological warfare (in the prison) has reached the level of torture. We are threatened for everything we do and prisoners are punished.” Berivan Zadsan called for solidarity against inhuman practices in the prison.

Eren Keskin, co-chair of the Human Rights Association (İHD) shared a post on her social media account and said that she had gone to the Bakırköy prison.

“I have left the Bakırköy Women’s Closed Prison just now. The first prison director A and the second prison director S are very OPPRESSIVE towards women prisoners. They are subjected to searches and punishment every day and their belongings are confiscated. Do you know these? The Ministry of Justice???” Eren Keskin wrote.
