News Center — With the continuation of war and shelling despite a ceasefire agreement, the risks facing children in Gaza are increasing amid warnings of serious repercussions affecting their lives, health, and right to protection.

At least four children have been killed and a number of civilians injured in the Gaza Strip over the past five days, according to UNICEF, which also confirmed the destruction of a warehouse containing nutrition supplies and severe damage to a water facility it supports due to attacks.

It noted that the child victims include two children aged two and four killed in separate airstrikes, a ten-year-old girl injured by ground fire while inside her tent, and a sixteen-year-old boy who died from wounds sustained in a previous strike.

The UNICEF Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa stated that children are being killed and injured, and those who survive are suffering due to the destruction of essential services and supplies they depend on.

A UNICEF warehouse was destroyed this week by shelling in its vicinity, which contained nutritional supplies. A water well and a desalination facility in Deir al‑Balah, supported by the organization, were severely damaged, cutting off a source of clean drinking water relied upon by more than 4,000 people, including approximately 2,000 children.

UNICEF renewed its call for respect for international humanitarian law and human rights law, including the protection of children's lives, rights, and civilian infrastructure, and ensuring immediate, safe, and unhindered access for humanitarian aid to affected populations.
