As-Swieda_The city of Sweida is witnessing a breach of the truce agreement through attacks carried out by security forces affiliated with the interim Syrian government, which have launched sporadic attacks using various types of weapons, raising fears of an expansion of confrontations and their impact on civilians.
Since Thursday morning, July 2, and continuing through today, Friday, the city of Sweida has recorded a clear breach of the truce agreement on the northern and western axes, carried out by security forces affiliated with the interim Syrian government using drones, and heavy and medium machine guns, according to the National Guard in its statement.
The statement explained that the shelling extended to residential neighborhoods inside the city, resulting in the deaths of two people and injuries to thirty others, including a child. The National Guard considered the attack a reflection of "a clear intention to sow chaos and endanger civilian lives," affirming that targeting residential areas constitutes a violation of ceasefire agreements.
It stressed in its statement that any breach of truce agreements or any actions it described as "provocative" would be met with direct and firm response, affirming that the security of civilians and its members is a "red line" that will not be allowed to be crossed, and that any new escalation will be met with deterrent field measures to prevent the repetition of attacks.
