Syrian Women's Council holds meeting with women in Daraa

The Syrian Women’s Council held a meeting with women in the city of Daraa on Sunday to hear their problems.

Daraa- The Syrian Women’s Council continues to hold meetings with women in different cities of Syria to discuss the current situation in the country and women’s role in building a new Syria.

On Sunday, the council held a meeting with women in the city of Daraa with the participation of many women. Rend Abdullah, a member of the Syrian Women's Council Preparatory Committee, made the opening speech of the meeting, drawing attention to the role of women in the city of Daraa and their contributions to the Syrian revolution.

Women informed about the activities of the council

During the meeting, Gulistan Çavîş, a member of the council, gave information about the council and its activities. Mona Yûsîf, Spokesperson of the council in the city of Qamishlo, talked about the economic, political and social problems faced by women.

Demands of women in Daraa

The women participating in the meeting discussed many issues during the meeting. The women highlighted the importance of awareness-raising meetings for women and young women and demanded the empowerment of women in economy, politics and social life, foundation of communities for young women, the protection of women’s rights by laws and psychological support to women released from prison.

The women also asked the council to open a branch in the city and increase the number of awareness-raising meetings for women.
