Sulaymaniyah – The Support Group for Rojava consisting of political parties, NGOs and human rights activists in the Kurdistan Region, issued a press statement at the Emnesureke Avenue of Sulaymaniyah to mark the 10th anniversary of the Revolution in Rojava, also known as Rojava Revolution. In the statement, the group demanded the ongoing Turkey’s attacks in Rojava to be stopped and the region's airspace to be closed.

“Measures should be taken”

NuJINHA interviewed Dr. Nikola Eşref, a member of the Support Group for Rojava, about the statement. “Our aim is to draw the attention of the international community to Rojava. Nowadays, Russia, Turkey and Iran have discussed launching an operation into Rojava to invade the region in Tehran. NGOs and international organizations should take serious measures to prevent a possible invasion and attack,” she told us.

“We support the campaign demanding the closure of airspace for military use”

The Support Group for Rojava member Bextiyar Mistefa read the press statement.

“Many developments have been experienced and thousands of people have been saved from ISIS since the Rojava Revolution took place in 2012. We support the campaign launched by 33 political parties in Rojava to impose a flight ban on military use of Rojava airspace. The Turkish state has supported the terrorist groups attacking and occupying cities and villages by using illegal weapons. This is a violation of international law. The USA, Russia, the United Nations, the International Coalition to Defeat ISIS, NATO, the European Union, the European Court of Human Rights, the Arab League, the political forces and parties in the four parts of Kurdistan, the regional government, international organizations and activists should know the truth and prevent the planned attacks,” the statement said.
