For months, no news has been received from Zeynab Jalalian, who has been held in an Iranian prison for 14 years with the allegation of being a member of the Kurdistan Free Life Party (PJAK).

Her family and relatives have reported that they haven’t received any news from her for months. Kurdish activist Zeynab Jalalian has been held in an Iranian prison for 14 years with the allegation of being a member of the Kurdistan Free Life Party (PJAK). Zeynab Jalalian was sentenced to death, but due to social pressures, the Iranian judiciary had to take a step back and did not carry out the execution. And then, her death sentence was commuted to life imprisonment.

Zeynab Jalalian has faced many health problems due to the bad condition in prison. She overcame the coronavirus in unhygienic conditions and was transferred to four different prisons in the last six months.

Union of Political Prisoners: We have received no news from her since May

According to the reports received from the Union of Political Prisoners, no news has been received from Zeynab Jalalian, who was transferred to the prison in Yazd, since May. Noting that the Iranian administration sent Zeynab Jalalian to Yazd, Kermanshah, Urmiye, and then to Yazd Prison to make her disappear without a trace, the union said, “We are concerned about her safety.

Stating that Zeynab Jalalian’s medical needs were not met and that they are concerned about her life, the union said, “We think that she is facing a terrible situation right now.”

Amnesty International sent a letter to Iran's Supreme Court

In February, Amnesty International sent a letter to Ebrahim Raisi, the head of the judiciary in Iran, in order to draw attention to the isolation conditions of Zeynab Jalalian in prison. “Since 29 April 2020, as prisons across Iran experienced outbreaks of COVID-19, ministry of intelligence agents have transferred Iranian Kurdish woman Zeynab Jalalian to four different prisons across the country and, in violation of the absolute prohibition against torture and other ill-treatment, held her in prolonged solitary confinement and deliberately denied her access to adequate health care. The ministry of intelligence is conditioning access to adequate health care, transfer to a prison closer to her family home in West Azerbaijan province and an end of reprisals against Zeynab Jalalian and her family on her ”confessing” to wrongdoing and expressing remorse for her past political activities on camera and agreeing to work with the ministry of intelligence,” Amnesty International wrote in the letter.
