Mothers of Martyrs Denounce International Coalition Betrayal, Affirm Ongoing Resistance

The mothers of martyrs vowed their children’s blood was not shed in vain, affirming that Kurds endure, resistance continues, and they will fight to the end to defend land, people, and rights.

Tell Tamer — In the war against ISIS, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ) suffered heavy losses, exceeding 13,000 martyrs—men and women—and 25,000 wounded. ISIS, which was declared definitively defeated in its last strongholds, has re-emerged once again.

ISIS and jihadists from Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham, under the so-called Syrian Interim Government, disguised as Arab tribes and ISIS-affiliated cells, launched a large-scale attack on areas of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria.

The mothers of martyrs expressed their discontent with the policies pursued by the International Coalition. The mother of the two martyrs Bahoz and Jinda, Jannar Yusuf, said that thousands of their children were martyred in the Rojava Revolution to protect societal values and their land. “The attacks our region is facing are extremely difficult, but had the international forces not supported armed groups on orders from the Interim Government, they would not have reoccupied cities that were liberated with the blood of our martyrs.”

She recalled the International Coalition’s betrayal of the Syrian Democratic Forces: “The world has witnessed the betrayal by international forces of the fighters who protected the world from the threat of ISIS. We did not turn our backs on the Coalition, but it is supposed to be a guarantor force in the region, and its inaction is disgraceful.” She expressed her support for the Autonomous Administration and the Syrian Democratic Forces until the end, and her defense of the achievements of the July 19 Revolution: “We will resist because we believe in the administration, in our strength, and in the martyrs who entrusted us with this land.”

She stressed that the world owes a full debt to the Kurdish people in Rojava: “The world is entirely indebted to our people and to our children who saved it from ISIS.” She also expressed her support for all decisions and alliances taken by the Syrian Democratic Forces for the fate of the region. “Many Kurdish revolutions have occurred before and failed once again due to betrayal, but the Rojava Revolution will remain steadfast, and we are confident of success.”

For her part, Nasrin Salah said that the scenario of Ras al-Ayn/Sere Kaniyeh is being repeated today, and that the policies of the International Coalition are responsible for this. She drew attention to the hypocrisy of human rights institutions and organizations for women’s and children’s rights: “Why do they call for human rights and the rights of women and children? They themselves think and act in an inhumane way, because their interests are above human rights. They must not make agreements on the blood of our children, and we categorically reject this.”

She explained that those carrying out the attacks today are ISIS members who have merely changed their names and clothing, adding that the International Coalition is fully aware of this fact. She reminded them of the mission for which the Coalition is present in the region: “Why do international powers stand idly by in the face of attacks on our region? The International Coalition is here today to fight ISIS, and that is a good thing, but why does it remain silent today in the face of these armed groups launching brutal attacks in the name of Arab tribes?”

Nasrin Salah concluded with a message: “Those who say that the revolution has ended and that there are no Kurds left are completely mistaken, because Kurds have always existed, and our resistance will continue forever. We tell our people not to be deceived by the special war waged by the enemies of humanity on social media. Our ancestors and our martyrs said the same thing, and we will repeat it: we have torn apart the cloak of death, and we will fight to the end to attain our rights.”
