Maryam Karimbeigi starts hunger strike in Evin Prison
Human rights defender Maryam Karimbeigi, who was arrested yesterday, has reportedly started a hunger strike after being transferred to the Evin prison.
News Center- On June 14, 2022, human rights defender Maryam Karimbeigi was arrested and taken to an unidentified location by the state security forces after raiding her mother’s home. According to the received reports, she has been held in the Evin prison and she has started a hunger strike in the prison to protest the rights violations against her.
Maryam Karimbeigi’s brother Mostafa Karimbeigi was shot and killed in Tehran during a 2009 protest.
Maryam Karimbeigi’s mother Shahnaz Akmali announced on her social media account that her daughter has started a hunger strike in the Evin prison. “Today neither Mostafa nor Maryam is with me,” she wrote.
