Leader Öcalan: Rebuild Rule of Law and Institutionalize Democratic Policies
Leader Abdullah Öcalan stated to the Bonn conference that peace is a social process based on justice, equality, and freedom, offering opportunities for solutions and a shared future.
News Center – An international conference opened in Bonn, Germany, under the theme "Shaping Life Together: The Peace Process and Future Prospects in Turkey," organized by the Peace Research Association. The sessions were attended by a distinguished group of academics, politicians, researchers, and representatives of civil society organizations.
Leader Abdullah Öcalan sent a message to the conference, stating:
"Dear participants, dear friends, I sincerely greet this purposeful meeting, which brings together all who believe that peace is a social process requiring continuous effort and determination. The efforts of the ‘Leaders’ organization to achieve and maintain peace, especially in the context of the Kurdish issue, are of great importance, as they work toward this goal. Peace is valuable not only for the Kurds but for all peoples in the region. These efforts make a significant contribution by promoting mutual understanding among peoples, establishing honorable coexistence, and reinforcing the social foundations of peace.
These efforts must lay sound foundations where diverse identities, pains, and future dreams converge toward a shared horizon of peace. Peace is a state of social reconciliation that upholds justice, equality, freedom, and mutual respect. The historical threshold we face today will impact the fate of Turkey, the Middle East, and Kurdish society. We are in a period where a negative revolutionary process can transition into a positive transformation. Conflict provides an opportunity to overcome exclusion and chaos. This transition is not merely a political choice but a direction imposed by historical and global realities.
For lasting peace and a true solution, rebuilding the rule of law and institutionalizing democratic policies are indispensable. In this regard, ending arbitrary practices and implementing international legal principles and the decisions of global institutions are of critical importance. I hope this conference becomes a step that multiplies opportunities for peace, deepens the path to solutions, and opens new horizons for a shared future among peoples. I respectfully salute everyone working for peace and wish you success in your endeavors."*
It is noteworthy that the international conference in Bonn is an academic and political forum organized by the Peace Research Association. It was recently inaugurated to discuss the peace process in Turkey, the future of social and political relations, and to focus on shaping a shared future that ensures stability and coexistence
