Iranian refugees sent to different cities for protesting Turkey’s withdrawal from Istanbul Convention
Three Iranian refugees, who were held in a removal center for participating in the protest took place in Denizli province against Turkey’s withdrawal from the Istanbul Convention, will be sent to different cities of Turkey.
News Center- The place of residence of three Iranian refugees, who participated in the protest that took place in Denizli province against Turkey’s withdrawal from the Istanbul Convention, has been changed. Esmaeil Fattahi has to live in Afyon province, Leili Faraji has to live in Sivas province and Zeinab Sahafi has to live in Samsun province.
The three Iranian refugees received a notification about the change of their place of residence. The Iranian refugees have to register to the provinces’ Directorates of Migration Management in 15 days.
Esmaeil Fattahi spoke to Evrensel Daily Newspaper and said, “Police take revenge on us. They have punished us for defending the Istanbul Convention, for expressing our opinion. They want everyone to keep silent. They want everyone to be afraid. According to them, we shouldn’t stay in the same city. I faced torture in Iran but never kept silent. They try to intimidate us but we will never be intimidated. We objected to the decision against us to deport us from Turkey. The trial is still going on. They try to psychologically oppress us. But we will continue to struggle for women’s rights. We will not bow down.”
