Iranian forces open fire on retirees protesting price hikes

Retirees held demonstrations in many cities of Iran to protest price hikes, surging inflation and unemployment rate. Iranian forces opened fire on the retirees, forcibly detaining them.

Gathering in Kermanshah, Ilam, Sanandaj, Marivan, Shahrekord, Yazd, Arak, Hamedan, Tehran, Ardabil, Tabriz, Rasht and many other cities, the retirees chanted slogans demanding a rise in their salary to fight the inflation.

In addition, many retirees held a march to the building of the Iranian Parliament in Tehran on February 28. However, the Iranian forces tried to block the retirees from marching by battering them.

The Coordinating Council of Iranian Teacher Trade Associations announced that the retirees gathered in front of the parliament were beaten and detained by Iranian forces. In Sanandaj, Iranian forces reportedly opened fire on the retirees protesting the price hikes.
