Iran: Masoumeh killed by her father after escaping from her abusive husband

17-year-old Masoumeh, a victim of child marriage, went to her family home after being subjected to violence by her husband. She was killed by her father.

The journalist reported that 17-year-old Masoumeh was killed by her father after she had escaped from her abusive husband. “17-year-old Masoumeh was forced into child marriage. A while ago, she took refuge in her father's house because of violence she was subjected to by her husband. Her father, 45, killed her daughter in the name of ‘honor’ due to pressure from his clan. He left her body in front of the house of Sheikh Taifeh.

According to the local sources, the father was arrested and he confessed to having killed his daughter. In his statement at the police station, he said, “I killed her to protect my honor and my family reputation.” The local sources think the father may go unpunished.
